The Huskies had a visitor today from Utah; 4-star defensive tackle, Apu Ika. Apu shared his thoughts on the trip while waiting to board a plane at SeaTac.
As Realdawg.com first reported this week, this would be the first time to Seattle for this big-time athlete.
‘The visit was great”, he said, “I had lots of fun.”
Apu got to tour the facilities and see some of the campus — but most of the time was spent around the athletic facilities and having some time with the coaches.
Sam Taimani was going to be with him on the trip, but a ticket problem caused some miscues on that plan — the important thing was getting Ika on campus. But all football and coaching meetings aside, Ika said he truly enjoyed suiting up and donning Husky attire.
“The highlight was the photoshoot!”, Ika exclaimed, “Being able to feel how it is to suit up in UW gear.”
Of course, Ika will post those once he has access to the photos. In the meantime, this was a big deal for Washington’s efforts.
So the biggest question would be…Did this help UW’s cause?
“Yes”, Ika said, “It definitely helped UW.”
We’ll have more after he returns to Utah — but he was getting ready to take off when we spoke.
