UDATED: Washington’s Huard, Bruener to Host Weekend Camp June 25 and 26

UDATED: Washington’s Huard, Bruener to Host Weekend Camp June 25 and 26

CORRECTION: RealDawg.com’s story on the Huard/Bruener weekend camp on June 25th and 26th had incorrect financial information. In that story we reported that Huard and Bruener would receive an amount that was incorrect. We have retracted the compensation details of the camp. We sincerely apologize for this factual error.

Here are the details that we can confirm from the original story:

The event kicks off the 2022 summer in Seattle with the first of many NIL appearances by Husky football players. It is hosted by HuskyFootballNIL.com and presented by Montlake Futures and Steinberg Sports Entertainment.  While the exact dollar amount is unknown, what the players will do with the funds is astonishing.

According to our source, for their participation in the event, Huard and Bruener will not pocket the funds but pool them and share them with the rest of the Husky football team.

Earlier RealDawg.com reported that Zion Tupuola-Fetui, Alex Cook, Jordan Perryman, Michael Penix, jr, and Corey Luciano received a figure in the upper 5-figure range.

The two-day event is free for kids between ages of 8 and 14 years of age and will be split between the player’s high school alma maters, Redmond High School and Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien.  Early Registration is being run through HuskyFootballNIL.com.

The NCAA’s new “Name, Image and Likeness” (NIL) policy is making the event possible for two to profit from the family name.

Huard’s and Bruener’s fathers played together at Washington in the early 1990’s, winning a national championship in 1991, giving their sons instant caché amongst local fans and businesses.  Their legacies were enhanced by producing two of the most iconic moments in Husky football history.

In the 1992 Rose Bowl, as a freshman, Bruener caught a 5-yard touchdown in third quarter.  The short pass created an iconic moment for the program as Bruener tip-toed the end line to give the Huskies a 19-7 margin.

For his part, the Huard name became nationally recognized when as a junior in 1994, Huard led the Dawgs to an 18-point victory over the Miami Hurricanes at the Orange Bowl, halting the Hurricane’s nine-year home winning streak at 58 games, an NCAA record.  The game became known as “The Whammy in Miami” and is one of the biggest upsets in college football history.

Nearly 30 years later Huard and Bruener are teaming up to make a difference in Husky football.
