The Geographical Footprint of the Class of 2018

The Huskies went into 10 states this year to complete the Class of 2018. They expanded their efforts more than we’ve seen in the past 20 years.

Of course, we don’t have immediate access to classes before they began filling up internet databases, but since the inception of internet recruiting, this is a new record for recruiting outreach.

The breakdown is:

Arizona — 2
California — 5
Hawai’i — 1
Idaho — 1
Nevada — 1
Oregon — 2
Tennessee — 1
Utah — 2
Washington — 5

Of those states, the Huskies landed the top player out of the state of Washington (Jacob Sirmon).

While the rankings are never a sure indicator of how good these guys really are and what they will contribute at the next level, this is still a effort into the Soutwest region, where locall heralded players such as OL Matteo Mele and DB Dominique Hampton reside (AZ).

They also pulled the #2 guy out of Hawai’i, and two of the top players in Utah.

They pretty much owned the Pacific Northwest, getting the #2 guy out of Idaho (Colson Yankoff) and signing both Trey Lowe (4) and Draco Bynum (7) out of Oregon — in addition to Yankoff from Idaho.

The Huskies signed three out of the top five players in the state of Washington, but Kyler Gordon should have been ranked ahead of Tre’Shaun Harrison.

They would have had two out of Texas this year, but due to a mutual parting-of-the-ways with LB Nick Bolton, the Huskies signed a lone prospect from the Lone Star State, OL Victor Curne.
