With what seems like a late move tight end Josh Cuevas is jumping ship from Seattle and following Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa. Cuevas arrived in Seattle just last season after spending two years at FCS Cal Poly. Cuevas was thought to be an incredibly talented player and was the clear heir to the tight end throne with both Jack Westover and Devin Culp headed to the NFL. Cuevas was stuck in an uber talented tight end room last season and wasn’t targeted often. But on his four catches he made the most of it, going for 164 yards and a score.
This is an unfortunate move for Husky fans, but a realistic one for Cuevas. While he will be going to a program that is bringing back it’s starting tight end from last season, Cuevas will be working with former Husky tight end coach Nick Sheridan. Sheridan will be getting a promotion in Alabama as he is expected to take over as the offensive coordinator. Bama provides some stability that Washington does not, but Cuevas is giving up the opportunity to be a face of Husky football.
If this has you worried about the future of the tight end position for the Huskies don’t stress too much. Jedd Fisch is working his magic and the Huskies are hot on the trail. The most recent news is the commitment of 3-star Charlie Crowell from Arizona. If you want to read more about Crowell and the future of the Huskies tight end situation check out the story below.
