The Huskies continue to identify some top 2021 prospects and make solid offers this week, and today they got busy in Texas, offering 2021 defensive end, Landon Jackson of Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana.
“He’s a really cool guy, he talked to me about three to four times before he came by the school”, Jackson said of Pete Kwaitkowski, “I definitely have interest in Washington…they’re a top 10 program and just put eight guys in the draft.”
The skinny on Jackson is that he’s a ferocious defensive end who is quick and athletic for his size. Right now he’s 6-6, 242 but he’s also still growing and is 16 years old.
If he gets that blindside shot at the QB he’ll go after him and try to knock the ball out of his hands.
Last season Jackson recorded 8 sacks and 70-plus tackles — but that was in just nine games due to a knee injury (that has since completely healed).
But during his freshman year Jackson posted 12 sacks — so it no mystery as to why he has so many offers while still just a sophomore.
Another cool thing about Jackson is that he’s very down-to-earth and will take the process very seriously in the year ahead, “I’m not making an early decision because I want to take my official visits”, he said, noting that by this time next year he will narrow down his list — and he will have a bunch of choice because right now he’s already at 21 offers.
So is he open to leaving the state of Texas?
“My dad played basketball at Texas A&M and my mom played (volleyball) at McNeese State”, he said, “I’d be open to leaving Texas if it felt right.”
As for getting up to Seattle, Jackson said he “definitely” plans to get up this summer, although no date has been set yet, but it’s on the agenda and Washington was smart to offer early.
