Slow Start, but #9 Huskies Put Away North Dakota, 45-3

There’s a little bit of a difference between playing Auburn and playing North Dakota, but the Huskies seemed to sleep-walk through much of the home-opener against the North Dakota Flying Hawks today.

Jake Browning finished the day with 313 yards-passing and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions and seemed to be off-and-on all day.

The Huskies’ defense did their job, holding the Hawks to just 262 total yards for the day and one field goal, but Washington’s offense — despite posting 632 total yards — seemed disjointed up front and didn’t block as well as one would expect against a “lesser opponent”.

Washington posted 195 rushing yards, but no one running back had a 100-yard day due to a lack of run-blocking from the o-line.

Browning was 23 of 37 passing with short TD passes to Jones and Cade Otton. Backup QB Jake Haener added a 12-yard TD pass to Ty Jones in the fourth quarter.

For the Hawks, John Santiago had 18 carries for 139 yards.

Browning was wearing a brace on his right knee — but his mobility didn’t appear to be effected. Mistakes, however, were visibly frustrating to Chris Petersen who put Haener in during the fourth quarter.

The Huskies moved the ball down field with ease after that line-up change.
