Senior Salute: Washington Linebacker Ralen Goforth Chose Right Time to Become a Husky

Washington linebacker Ralen Goforth certainly chose the right year to become a Husky. After a Pac-12 championship appearance in 2022, the linebacker from Long Beach California graduated from USC.

“It was a bit of a shock the first few days,” he said of the frigid temperatures in early January after his arrival.

“Now, I’m running around with my shirt off in the snow,” he said with an ear-to-ear grin.

10 days into winter and he won’t be worried about running around as the season’s final two games are in Sun Belt states, Louisiana and Texas.

After graduation Goforth hopped in the portal, and the Huskies scooped him up. The Huskies had recruited him out of high school, and they got him home the second time. When RealDawg asked him about choosing UW :

“I was looking for a home where their morals and intentions in 2023 lined-up with mine,” he said about his decision to move 1,200 miles north.

“We see the opportunity we have to be great this year. Not just for a Pac-12 championship, but you know, something bigger and better,” he explained.

Step one is complete and the USC transfer has been a big piece on the Huskies defense this season. As a veteran leader Goforth has been on the field for some of the biggest moments of the season. Making big plays to help seal the win against Utah, and tackles for loss in the Pac-12 championship game.

His 35 tackles have him at ninth on the team as he has made plays sideline-to-sideline. Goforth’s leadership and defensive play making will be missed on this team next year, but he got his Pac-12 Championship.

And a shot at a whole lot more.
