The Washington Huskies got some great news when 4-star running back Brian Bonner, from Valencia, California committed to UW.
This is a great development for Coach Jess Fisch who missed out on a the last few targets to commit in late June.
An industry composite 4-star running back is rated as a top-7 back in the class and was pursued by some of the top schools around the country including Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, and Oregon.
Size: Standing 6 foot-even and weighing 190 pounds, Bonner is on taller end of running back. His pound frame has room to get bigger when in the Husky program.
Speed: This is why he is a top-7 recruit. He can flat out fly. He will be one of the fastest players in the program when he gets onto campus. He has breakaway speed and can break off a touchdown on every carry.
Strength: He breaks tackles, but can become a star at Washington if he can develop in pass protection.
Vision: He shows the ability to find the open hole and exploit a defense that is missing an assignment.
Decision-Making: Despite his burst, he shows the patience to let plays develop, and knows when to put his foot on the accelerator or when to stick his foot in the turf then pour gasoline on the fire.
ScoutLook: Even as a 4-star running back, Bonner has one of the highest ceilings in the class. His speed and ability to find the open holes make him a breakaway touchdown on every touch. He can catch the ball well out of the backfield making him a threat at every level with the ball in his hands. The big question for Bonner is how long will it take him to develop the details that go along with being a complete back at the power four level. When he develops under the staff at Washington he has the potential to be an all Big-10 player.
