ScoutLook: EJ Caminong will Beat Teams with His Eyes, Arm, or Feet

The Washington Huskies 2024 quarterback will not have far to move as the UW added to their 2024 class, securing the EJ Caminong, from their own backyard at Seattle’s Garfield High School EJ Caminong..

Caminong is an intriguing prospect that chose the hometown school over other schools such as Colorado, Oregon State, and the Washington State Cougars. The Bulldogs’ signal caller projects  to be the next in line of hometown quarterbacks to start under center for the purple and gold.

Size:  Standing at 6 foot 2 inches and weighing in at 200 pounds, the Bulldogs’ QB has a durable frame that can add wight without losing any athleticism.

Athleticism: Caminong is very athletic. He moves well in the pocket and can beat team on the outside. He consistently looking downfield but his quickness gives him the extra tool to make chunk plays with his speed.

Arm: As a young quarterback his arm strength is improving. His fastball will continue to improve when he has to make the throw across the hash. He throws a very good deep ball even when on the move and can hit a receiver in stride 40 yards downfield.

Touch: This is when EJ Caminong shines. He throws a great deep ball. He leads his receivers well and puts enough air to give his teammates the best chance to bring the ball in. He has great touch in between a bracketed receiver.

Football IQ:  What separates Caminong from many other quarterbacks, especially in the 2024 recruiting class is his ability to interpret whatever looks that defenses are giving him.  With an run-pass option in his pocket at the line of scrimmage, he will typically make the right call.

Scoutlook: EJ Caminong is a really good piece to start the 2024 class. He should continue to develop into an elite weapon in the DeBoer offense. He has a very good arm with fantastic touch. His speed and escapeability will make him very dangerous in Kalen DeBoer’s offense, and his vision is elite.
