The Huskies went all the way across the country and earned a big time commitment from 2026 quarterback Derek Zammit. The 4-star prospect out of New Jersey is a top-25 quarterback in his class. The Huskies had to beat out Kalen DeBoer at Alabama to secure his commitment.
Size: Standing 6-1 and weighing in at 195 pounds Zammit fits is taller than some of the other quarterbacks targeted by Jedd Fisch while at Arizona and now with Washington.
Speed: While a comparison to speed with current quarterback, Demond Williams, is unfair Zammit has the potential to beat teams with his legs. He is quick in the pocket and can take advantage of a bad angle of a defender.
Arm: Many times throughout his highlight tape Zammit is flat footed and still hits his receivers in stride 50 yards downfield. He has a beautiful deep ball with the capacity to throw the fastball in tight windows in the intermediate zone of the field.
Scoutlook: There is a lot to like about Derek Zammit as a prospect. His athleticism and arm talent speak for themselves. He will be able to make all the throws at the next level and will be able to beat teams with his legs. He has a very high football IQ when it comes to exploiting defenses with his eyes. He has all of the tools to be a top end quarterback in the Big 10.
