Former Washington Husky coach Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Football staff has added a familiar name for Husky fans, adding former Washington linebacker Tevis Bartlett as a graduate assistant. Bartlett let Twitter know he was a Longhorn with a not-so-cryptic tweet.

Bartlett was an integral part of Washington’s ascension under Chris Petersen. In his 4 years at Washington, the Huskies won 39 games. The Cheyenne, Wyoming-native capped off his Washington career with five tackles against Ohio State in the Rose Bowl in 2019.
During his time in the purple and gold, Bartlett played in 52 games, finishing with 158 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and two interceptions.
A Butkus and Wuerffel Award nominee in his final season at UW, Bartlett went undrafted in 2019 but signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. After being released by the Giants he went back home to complete his degree at the University of Wyoming.
Bartlett won four state titles in wrestling in Wyoming and decided to return to the mat for one final ride with the University of Wyoming Cowboys–as a coach.
In Texas, Bartlett is reunited with linebackers two former Washington coaches, Jeff Choate now the Longhorns’ co-defensive coordinator and ILB coach as well as Bartlett’s defensive coordinator at Washington, Pete Kwiatkowski, Texas’ defensive coordinator, and OLB coach.
Sarkisian is familiar with Barlett’s efforts on the field as their paths crossed in the 2016 Peach Bowl. In that game, Sarkisian was an offensive analyst for Alabama and he got a first-hand look at the Washington linebacker when Bartlett dropped the Alabama QB Jalen Hurts for a loss of 2 yards midway through the 2nd quarter.
