Report: Washington Lands Huge Utah Defensive Tackle

Report: Washington Lands Huge Utah Defensive Tackle

The Huskies reeled in another large individual on Monday when they signed former Utah defensive lineman Simote Pepa. Pepa continues the Huskies’ staff run on large linemen on both sides of the ball to compete with the physical Big 10 conference.

Simote Pepa brings some much needed size to be in the rotation in the middle of the D-line. His 6 foot 3 inch and 335 pound frame will help clog the middle against a conference that ran all over Washington during the 2025 season.

The Huskies were thin in the middle of the line with injuries to both Parker brothers as well as other rotational players missing time throughout the season.

The Huskies wore down over the course of the game leading to bigger running lanes for teams as they found chunks of yards on the ground. The addition of Pepa and Western Michigan transfer Anterio Thompson is a step in upgrading an area of need for the defense.
