Random Recruiting Notes: 10/29

It’s almost game week (yay) and it’s possible that in just a few weeks the extended dead period will end…

Okay, I don’t know that for a fact — it may be wishful thinking. But the point is: This can’t go on forever.

As we all get ready to cast our votes next week, whether we agree or disagree — just remember to vote for the guy who you know will keep college football afloat.

A vote for college football is a vote for a return to normalcy.

So, let’s take a look at some quick notes that came across my desk this past week…

Obviously, the big question is: Will Washington make another run at Siaki (Apu) Ika, who just entered the transfer portal from LSU.

Ika had been a highly-covered prospect where Washington was concerned back in the 2019 cycle, but Washington had fallen off his list later in the process and, at that time, the Huskies had other prospects high on their list, and let’s face it — Ika had put on a ton of weight in his senior year. He was up to 370-plus.

Now he’s back down to a svelt 330 and so again: Will Washington make a run?

It’s very much within the realm of possibility, but Washington’s depth at DT is such that they may not even take a d-tackle in 2022.

This will definitely be a story to keep an eye on in the weeks ahead — but even if Washington were to throw their hat back into the ring, depending on why he’s leaving LSU — I’m thinking he decides to return to Utah and play for the Utes.

In other news….

I was asked this week on the board if Washington would take all four of the top OL’s in the state for 2022: Malik Agbo, Josh Conerly, Vega Loane, and Mark Nabou.

Yes. I believe they would.

While we already are well aware of the fact that Washington can’t take a big class in 2022 (at this point), how do you shut the door on those guys if they all want to stay home?

You can’t.

I’ll have more on this in the weeks ahead.

There’s also concern that local receiver Tobias Merriweather has been projected to the Ducks, but I have two words for anyone concerned about this: Germie Bernard.

Fear not, little flock, this will all come out as it needs to in order for Washington’s 2022 receiver class to be as it should be.

For now, have a great Thursday Husky fans.
