The first truly shocking portal news hit the Huskies on Monday when future star linebacker Khmori House elected to test the portal where he will no doubt be a highly sought after target.
House burst onto the scene as a true freshman all the way back in spring ball where he turned heads of media members and more importantly the coaching staff. The emergence of House was probably a reason that transfer linebacker, Byrun Parham, chose to redshirt the 2024 season to ensure eligibility elsewhere for his final colligate season.
House shined in his true freshman campaign racking up awards like the Big 10 player of the week after his performance against Northwestern and winning the Travis Spring Most Outstanding Freshman of the Year Award. But no play was bigger than the 4th and goal stop in the 4th quarter against USC that went a long way to a Husky victory.
Jedd Fisch has mentioned House by name as a building block to the future of the Husky program.
Now Khmori House has a decision to make. No doubt there is an NIL offer on the table from Washington, but the portal will allow him to look at other offers around the country. His skillset and production after just one year will make him a hot commodity.
Whatever choice Khmori House makes will have ripple effects in the Husky program. The reality remains that Jedd Fisch and co. still need to replenish the linebacker room with the departures of two defensive stars in Alphonzo Tuputala and Carson Bruener. Even with the addition of Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and Donovan Robinson the loss of the experience and star power House will be felt.
