Chris Petersen looked like he was in a little better mood today than he was back in December on signing day; very pleased with the fact that the Huskies picked up two more four-star signees for the 2019 class, and that he got one back that had been lost.
Petersen said that he was happy to finally have Asa Turner and Daniel Heimuli signed and sealed, “Those guys will make us better”, he said, “Asa is athletic, rangy, can tackle in space.”
He went on to the say that Turner filled an “area of need” in the secondary.
“We know what we want our safeties to look like”, he said,”Where he fits the best, in our mind, is clear cut.”
On Heimuli, Petersen said that — as impressed as the coaches were from having seem him play as a junior — they were even more impressed with his progress during his senior season, “He got better and better in each game”, he said, adding that this made it even more exciting to get Heimuli signed.
** The coach said that the staff feels “Strongly about the class in general”.
** Petersen also talked about the addition of a “handful” of walk-ons, noting that “if they produce, they will play.”
** Petersen also confirmed that Chico McClatcher is back with the team.
** DJ Beavers is also still with the team, despite rumors about medically retirement.
