Petersen talks about Class of 2019, Rose Bowl

Chris Petersen was visibly tired when he met with the media today. But to hear him tell it, it was a “good tired”.

** “Really, really fun day today”, the coach said, “I get up in the morning, get a bunch of … papers in, and then you get to go practice for the Rose Bowl –I don’t think it gets much better than that.”

** The coach had a lot of good things to say about both sides of the line in this class, and also pointed out that eight guys are enrolling in the winter and three more could enroll by spring.

** The highlight of the press conference was when Petersen took a huge swipe at other coaches whose staff continued to hound recruits even after they were committed to Washington. And this isn’t the usual just-keeping-in-touch stuff. I think the recruiting situation has … gotten worse, it can be painful”, he said, “The vultures and the lowdown tactics that is going on behind closed doors…Why would you be calling those kids? They’ve been committed to us forever. But they do.”

** Coach also commended Ikaika Malloe for a job well done both as a recruiter and a d-line coach.
