Penix Blows Away NFL Scouts at Washington’s Pro Day

Penix Blows Away NFL Scouts at Washington’s Pro Day

Washington fans they’ve known what Michael Penix is capable of for a while now, but watching him throw the football reminds you every time.

Since the end of the college football season Penix’s name hasn’t exactly died down in the headlines on the draft boards, but his performance at the UW pro-day should reinvigorate the All-American’s buzz heading into the final month before the NFL Draft.

The Tampa, Florida native took the nation by storm last season as he threw for 4,903 yards and 36 touchdowns , while leading the Washington Huskies to 14-1 overall record, a Sugar Bowl win, and a College Football Playoff Championship Game.

A post on the Social Media platform X stating that he would not be running a 40-yard dash was reversed as he showed off his 4.46 seconds burst.

The nation’s leading passer was on-point Thursday morning, regardless of the depth of the throw.

Back in his Heisman (runner-up) form he was working with his receivers, tight ends and running back.

His precision, hitting throws to every corner of turf he could find, demonstrated why the Huskies were so difficult to defend this past season.

With up to 100 NFL scouts in attendance Penix showed off his elite deep ball ability, and incredible accuracy all over the field.

With his mobility called into question Penix stepped up in front of a full-house and showed out on athletic testing. His vertical leap was one of the best of the day as he hit 36.5”.

Penixs athleticism was on display for an impressed crowd reminding us all that he has the tools in his bag, but just hasn’t needed to use them.

During throws his footwork was good and his delivery was just as pretty and precise as he was when he played 500 feet away in Husky Stadium—where he never lost in two years.

Every throw was on point as perfect spirals where delivered to every route in the book.

If pro-day performance should serve as any indicator don’t be surprised when Penix begins to climb back into the first round of NFL mock drafts.
