Pac-12 Roundup: Week seven picks

It’s week seven in college football and things are really starting to heat up. In the South Division of the Pac-12, Colorado is the only undefeated team left in the Pac-12. The Buffs’ are 5-0 and 2-0 in conference play. In the North, Washington leads the division with a 3-0 conference record.

Here are my week seven picks….

Friday

Arizona (3-3) at Utah (3-2) 7 p.m. (ESPN) Line: Utah -13.5

The Utes finally got their offense going last week in a stunning 40-21 victory at Stanford. Utah racked up 421 yards in the win led by running back Zack Moss, who finished with 160 yards and two touchdowns.

Arizona got a much needed 24-17 win at home over California last week. The Wildcats forced four California turnovers in the win. Arizona’s offense was a different story, accounting for just 265 total yards.

If the Utes get their offense going early this could get ugly.

Utah 35 Arizona 14

Saturday

UCLA (0-5) at California (3-2) 4 p.m. (Pac-12) Line: California -6.5

If the Golden Bears could find something on offense their record could be much different. In the last two weeks, California quarterbacks have thrown a combined seven interceptions. In last week’s 24-17 loss to Arizona, the Golden Bears had 476 total yards of offense but had four turnovers.

UCLA is now 0-5 after a 31-24 loss against Washington last week. There were some positives in the loss. After getting down 24-7, the Bruins outscored the Huskies 17-7 in the second half. UCLA also put up 422 total yards of offense against Washington’s stout defense.

This is a very intriguing game. You have to expect at some point UCLA will break through and it could be this week if California continues to turn the ball over. But this is the week the Golden Bears finally take care of the football.

California 35 UCLA 28

#19 Colorado (5-0) at USC (3-2) 7:30 p.m. (FS1) Line: USC -7

The Buffaloes are ranked No. 19 in the polls and are off to a 5-0 start. Colorado was led by star wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., who scored all four CU touchdowns, in their 28-21 home victory over Arizona State.

USC is coming off a bye week after defeating Arizona the week before. The Trojans have won two games in-a-row as true freshman QB JT Daniels seems to be getting better each week.

A rested USC team at home is hard to beat and I’m not sure Colorado is as good as their record.

USC 35 Colorado 20
