Oregon started the season on national television against Auburn. The Ducks took a 21-6 lead over the Tigers early in the third quarter, but Auburn’s freshman QB Bo Nix led a comeback and threw the game winning touchdown pass with 9 seconds left in the game. Week 2 the Ducks rebounded from their opening week loss to blowout Nevada 77-6 as Justin Herbert threw for 310 yards and 5 TDs.

Week 3, Oregon faced Montana Grizzlies, Justin Herbert had another big game with 316 yards and 5 TDs. Oregon beat Montana 35-3 to wrap up their nonconference schedule. Oregon played Stanford to open Pac 12 play week 4. Oregon won 21-6 as Herbert threw another 3 touchdown passes.

3-1 Oregon played 4-1 Cal at home in week 5 in a battle of two of the better defenses in the country. Oregon beat Cal 17-7 in QB Devon Modster’s first career start for Cal, after trailing 7-3 late in the third quarter. Last week Oregon hosted Colorado for their 4th home game in 5 weeks. Oregon’s defense intercepted Colorado Qb Steven Montez 4 times and beat Colorado 45-3.

Oregon has played dominant defensively so far this season. After allowing 27 points week 1 to Auburn they have held all other teams under 7 points and won 5 straight games. The 8.7 points per game allowed is third best in the country this season. Herbert has thrown for 16 touchdowns so far this season although 10 of them came in two games vs. Nevada and Montana.

Oregon has played well so far this season but hasn’t had to face much adversity and have had a fairly easy schedule, their two toughest opponents have had QBs playing in their first college start. Also Oregon has only had one true road game at Stanford where the crowd is never very engaged. This week the Ducks will also be dealing with key injuries on offense and defense for the first time this season. Circumstances considered the Huskies could be set up to upset the 12th ranked Oregon Ducks this week in Seattle.
