It’s an absolute joke that the Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year is Oregon’s Bo Nix.
It’s TRULY offensive.
Wins should be how a quarterback is measured. Nix had two shots to take down Washington this season. Penix was pressured 13 times in the conference championship and stood tall in the pocket, throwing for over 300 yards—and the win.
Apparently the Pac-12 coaches don’t understand that it’s the biggest stage where champions are made.
Not coming up clutch in the clutch in either game says as much about one as it does about the other.
Their leadership styles couldn’t be more stark. Heading into the 4th quarter of the biggest game of his career Penix was at the center of his team imploring his teammates to give it their all—to leave out all on the field.
Nix when his team needed him the most couldn’t bear to watch the ending from under his towel rather than root for his defense to stop Penix. This is a guy that has played in the most games as a in college football history and can’t finds way rally the troops?
In the first meeting, on the most critical of downs Bo Nix spiked the ball into Husky Stadium turf while Penix hit Rome Odunze with the game-winner.
Penix has shown ice in his veins in the biggest moments while Nix has shown jello in his knees.
Stat lines for the two games read:
54 of 78 for 571 yards with 5 TDs and 1 INT
49 of 76 for 621 yards with 5 TD and 2 INT
But winners win in the biggest moments.
In the first matchup Penix hit the game-winner while Nix had two shots to close out the Huskies and couldn’t.
In the next battle trailing 24-20, Penix put together back-to-back touchdown drives to take the lead, including a 12-play, 82 yard drive to take the lead the Huskies the length of the field. On Washington’s final possession on 3rd and 4 Penix hit Jalen McMillan to extend the drive.
There’s no way it can be spun that Nix is more deserving of the offensive award than Penix.
It’s offensive.
