Offer Alert: Washington Sends Offer 2,900 Miles Away to Great Cousin of NFL Hall of Famer Herb Adderley

In the past few recruiting cycles the Huskies have pulled in players from Michigan, Ohio, and Louisana, now they’re going after an NFL Hall of Famer’s great cousin in Virginia.  Khabeer Adderley is a 5-9, 170-pound athlete from Richmond, Virginia whose recruiting has begun to pick up steam in the past few weeks.  Word on him has spread west with offers from UNLV, San Jose State, and now, his second Power 5 offer from the University of Washington.  Maryland was his first Power 5 offer.

His offer from Washington came from both head coach Kalen DeBoer and defensive backs coach, Julius Brown.

“The Huskies are recruiting me as a corner and safety,” Adderley said.  “But I play corner/safety/receiver but I will play anywhere on the field I’m needed.”

Defensive back is in Khabeer’s blood being the great-cousin of 3-time Super Bowl champion Herb Adderley and cousin to former LA Chargers Nasier Adderley.  Because of those relatives playing at the highest level understands that in football travel is a part of the game.

“I can see myself playing at Washington,” he said of the 2,900-mile difference between John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia and Seattle.

JMHS had a bit of a rough season last year going 3-7, including three consecutive losses by a combined total of 195-12.  However, Khabeer did his part with over 40 tackles and over 10 pass breakups.

He’s familiar with the Huskies having watched Washington beat Texas in the Alamo Bowl and drop Oregon

“That Oregon game was crazy,” he said of Washington’s 37-34 comeback victory in Eugene.  “Matter of fact, I’m gonna watch it now.”

He has a favorite former Husky, as well.

“I like how Trent McDuffie plays,” he said.

Right now he’s hoping on visiting Washington for a game this Fall on October 14.  The opponent?  Oregon.
