Playing in six games throughout the next five days in The Sunshine State, the Huskies (7-1) will look to ride this offensive momentum to stay undefeated in Florida. With just ten matchups remaining until conference play, Washington is eight wins away from matching its best non-conference season since winning the 2009 National Championship.
Washington did a great job preventing Florida Gulf Coast from causing much damage, holding them to just three total hits and forcing them to only 1 for 13 with runners on base.
Senior Lindsay Lopez (3-0) picked up her third win in commanding fashion, striking out six in 4.2 innings pitched while only allowing one hit and three walks. Freshman Sidne Peters closed out the remaining 2.1 innings, striking out three while giving up a pair of hits and an earned run.
Sophomore Brooklyn Carter, junior Rylee Holtorf, and sophomore Alana Johnson all delivered two hits in the win, with Carter adding another stolen base to her season total along with two runs. The game was blown open in the fourth inning by fifth-year Brooke Nelson, who crushed a two-run bomb over left field, her first home run since 2022.

Johnson started the scoring instantly with a two-out RBI single in the first, and senior Jillian Celis kept the ball rolling with a two-out RBI double the following inning to extend the lead to 2-0.
Nelson crushed her two-run home run in the fourth inning before Johnson hit another RBI single with two outs to make it a 6-0 game going into the bottom of the fifth.
FGCU scored on an unearned run in the sixth before a two-out double in the seventh to end the game 6-2.
With one more mid-week game before the South Florida showdown begins on Thursday, the Huskies will be locked and loaded to face Stetson on Wednesday, February 22 at 12:30 pm.
