Notes and Video from day No. 4 of fall camp

The Huskies were in the Dempsey Indoor Center for day No. 4 of fall camp. Washington practiced with helmets but no pads. Here are a few notes and observations from UW’s short practice –

* Chico McClatcher continues to be one of the most impressive players in fall camp so far for the Huskies. Today, he had the best play of the day, if not of the camp. McClatcher out-leaped defensive backs Isaiah Gilchrist and Alex Cook, hauling in about a 30-yard pass from QB Jacob Sirmon. The offensive sideline erupted after McClatcher brought the ball in.

* True freshmen QB Dylan Morris and WR Puka Nacua each had a good practice. Nacua caught about a 30-yard pass from Morris on a fade route in which Nacua toe-tapped the sideline to complete the catch. Dylan Morris has had a very strong camp so far.

* The battle for No. 1 QB continues between Jacob Eason and Jake Haner. Each had their good moments today. Haener had a few nice completions. None better then when he placed a perfectly thrown wheel route to TE Hunter Bryant beating Keith Taylor in coverage. Jacob Eason had two deep incompletions on consecutive plays to Austin Osborne and Richard Newton. Both plays could have gone the distance but were slightly overthrown. Eason’s best throw was about a 15-yard pass over the middle in traffic to TE Cade Otton with the No. 1 offense.

* On defense, it was defensive back Isaiah Gilchrist who had the best day. Gilchrist had a pass break-up and also intercepted a tipped pass from QB Jacob Sirmon for the defense’s lone turnover of the day.

* True freshman outside linebacker Laiatu Latu sacked Jacob Eason late in practice. Latu continues to have a very good camp as he has accounted for three sacks (unofficially) in fall camp.
