New Washington Coaching Staff Made Official

According to multiple sources, New, Washington head coach Jedd Fisch will be bringing most of his offensive and strength and conditioning staff with him to Seattle.

Two coaches are still up in the air, and that is POTENTIALLY good news for Washington.  Those two coaches are former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll’s son and Former Arizona defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen.

Nansen just took the defensive coordinator position at Texas for Steve Sarkisian but, according to one source is favored by Wildcat alumni as he is a former player as well as coach.

If Fisch is able to reel in Carroll, that would bode well for bringing up  several key offensive players to fill the gaps where players have left UW.

But Carroll and Nansen illustratesone reason why Arizona was so successful last season was that two coaches were highly regarded to where they are being considered for the head coaching job at Arizona.

The coaches joining Fisch are:

—S&C: Tyler Owens—official

—OC:  Brennan Carroll—official

—OL:  Brennan Carroll—official

—QBs: Jimmy Dougherty—official

—RBs:  Scottie Graham—official

—WRs:  Kevin Cummings—official

—TEs:  Jordan Paopao—official

—STs:  Jordan Paopao—official

—DL:  Jason Kaufus—official

—Run Game Coordinator: Jason Kaufus—official

—Secondary—John Richardson—official

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with the office of line coach position whose dad is a Seahawks Legend, or if he will take the job for the Wildcats.  If he does come up, what happens to offensive line coach Scott Huff.

The other big question is for Washington strength and conditioning coach Ron McKeefery.  If Tyler Owens comes up, as is expected, McKeefery would be out.

UPDATE: Confirmed that OC and OL coach Brennan Carroll will be on Jedd Fisch’s new staff.

That means that Scott Huff is out.

UPDATE:  Cummings is up in the air, at this point.  If Johnny Nansen is named head coach, Cummings will likely stay and keep the Fifita and McMillan in place.

UPDATE: Cummings is no longer up in the air, but in the air and on his way to Seattle.  There could be a battle for his services between Arizona and Washington. Either way, I feel like both teams can win. If Coach Shep stays, he could help retain a bunch of the players.  If Cummings comes he could help bring several players from Arizona.

This most likely means that JaMarcus Shephard is out, as well.

Cummings to stay in Seattle is not a done deal, by any means.

Fisch will meet with Washington’s press corps tomorrow at 11.
