Could there be room for another “DK” in Seattle? Not long after wrapping up his official visit to the University of Washington, 4-star Dominic “DK” Kirks, an edge defender from Cleveland, Ohio announced that he will announce his decision where he’ll continue his academic and athletic career. The senior defensive lineman from Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School 5 days earlier announced the Huskies as one of his final 5 schools.
His most recent trip to the Emerald City was his second visit and an official visit. His announcement will be on June 30th, no time is set yet.
Do the Huskies stand a real chance at pulling in a defensive player from the Buckeye State? Yes.
Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School shares one large similarity to UW, as it’s right on the water, Lake Erie northeast of downtown Cleveland. It’s a similar distance to from each school’s campus to the downtown core.
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind romance between DK and the Huskies as Washington offered him on March 9, giving him 16 offers at that point. He was rated as a 3-star player for a while but steadily rose through the ranks. At the time, he was rated a 3-star defender by 247 Sports but after winning defensive MVP at an Under Armor camp his star continued to rise. As recently as June 15 he was recognized as a 4-star defender by Rivals.com. He has an On3 industry composite of 4 stars although ESPN has yet to rate him.

Part of the variance in ratings is that at 6-5 and 255 pounds, he’s quite versatile. However, it appears that Washington is recruiting him as an edge defender.
Already this Spring he’s visited Wisconsin, Pittsburg, West Virginia, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Washington, to name a few. 5 days ago he announced that Wisconsin, Pittsburg, Kentuck, Nebraska, and Washington were the final schools he was considering. However, since announcing his Top 5 he’s canceled a trip to Kentucky. Washington was his last official visit.
