Montlake Quake 2: 4-Star Washington Receiver Commit Missed Flight from LA, Still Made Game

It’s been hard to keep 4-star Washington receiver commit Jason Robinson on the ground this season–he just doesn’t miss.  However, the TSA at Los Angeles International Airport was able to accomplish what few teams have done this year.

After helping his new teammates at San Juan Hills to a 55-7 victory over El Toro the 6-0 185-pound pass catcher and he family set off to catch an early morning flight to Seattle to watch his No. 7 Washington Huskies take on the No. 8 Oregon Ducks.

“We ran into a hold up with TSA and didn’t catch our flight,” he explained.

That’s funny, because he catches anything thrown his way on the football field.  He’s used to seeing someone in front of him in a uniform and being able to find a way around them to make the catch.

It’s something that he’s done 44 times this season for 715 yards and 8 touchdowns.

However, standing in the TSA line he, his brothers and dad were helpless as their flight to Seattle left without them.  They caught a later flight and were finally able to touchdown in Seattle in time to be at Husky Stadium for the 12:30 kickoff–and he came away impressed with the game day atmosphere.

“It’s crazy how loud it gets there,” he said.  “The coaches had told me but it’s not until you’re there that you can feel the energy.”

His dad, agreed.

“The environment was bananas,” Jason, Senior said.  “That is the loudest place I’ve ever been.”

They saw the mayor of Seattle out there, and another famous player with whom he shares initials.

“We saw Julio Rodriguez from the Mariners, as well,” Senior recalled.  “It was a real big vibe.  For sure the best settings in college football.”

As the game went back and forth they could feel the stadium , especially on those 3 critical forth downs.

“The crowd was like no other,” he said.

Living in Southern California, the Robinsons are accustomed to the Earth and buildings moving and could feel Husky Stadium moving beneath his feet.

“You could feel can feel the stands shake strongly,” he recollected.

From their spot in the recruit section on the north side next to the tunnel they were able to see the ball pass on the outside of the of the right upright and knew it was no good.

“Oh yes, we rushed the field,” they both said.  “The Washington fans were amazing.  All you could see out there was purple.”
