Monday Petersen Notes & Video

Chris Petersen addressed the media on this Labor Day Monday, and talked about the team’s performance on Saturday, as well as some stern words for the local media regarding the reporting of injuries.

Here’s some key notes from Petersen’s press conference (full video below)

** Petersen said that he was grateful to the fans for making the cross-country trip to support the Huskies

** He addressed redzone issues by saying “I think it starts with us having a better plan. I’m talking about myself. We have to have a better plan there.”

** Said the targeting non-call on Jake Browning was as “blatant as all get out”, but said “It is what it is” and “what are you going to do?”

** He said the tipped pass meant for Andre Baccellia in the endzone might have been Auburn’s “play of the game”.

** He also scolded the media for reporting on Trey Adams before there had been any status from him and his doctor, said the he has showed respect to the media but that the media has not shown respect to his process for injury updates.

** Petersen was pleased with the play of Jaxen Kirkland on the OL, and that he feels “the new guys” have played well. Said Kirkland “held his own”.

** He likewise said he was pleased with the play of the receivers, who had been the subject of skepticism prior to the start of the season.

** Petersen said that he and his team will prepare differently for North Dakota — they’re a different type of team schematically.
