I know Husky fans are looking for some positive news these days; just yesterday we learned that the team will not be allowed to return to Seattle in June and incoming frosh won’t be able to report for the LEAP program.
That’s what we know for now, at least.
I did hear from a good source that there are meetings going on right now within the athletic department and so there’s still some options on the table as to whether or not Jimmy Lake can take the team out of the state of Washington for fall camp.
To clarify, this is all conjecture. All I know for sure is that yesterday Husky players were told not to return to campus yet come June 1st.
So, that’s what we need to keep an eye on in the days ahead; and regardless of what side of the bread you butter politically, there is a lot to think about in terms of how Governor Inslee is handling things in this state.
As for this subject being brought up in our forums, let’s make it perfectly clear that this is now a non-partisan issue and no opinions will be suppressed.
So, on to recruiting…
I didn’t know that readers weren’t aware of the fact that JT Tuimoloau could potentially be a two-sport athlete. He is a solid hoops player and I’ve learned that he has been in touch with Mike Hopkins regarding the possibility of playing both sports at Washington.
So that’s an “in case you missed it” tidbit.
And as for wanting some good news, here’s some for you: Guys are committing to schools right now out of boredom. I expect some wavering with some going forward. I won’t say who or when, but show some grace here as fans. It’s early and there will likely be decommits before this cycle is over.
For some Husky targets, the longer it takes, the better. As much as I bet the coaches would love to get some more kids in early, they’re willing to wait on some of the big names like Troy Franklin, JT, Emeka Egbuka, and others.
Time is a good friend right now, and for those guys it will only help Washington down the line.
I don’t really give a rats fat *** what the Crystal Balls say, don’t even worry about that. It’s real early for some kids and so don’t even lose one night of sleep over it.
I’m going to post a Five Who Could Woof article this week, and that should cheer everyone up.
Now, I expect a new offer out today and it will be a familiar name to some. From what I can tell, the coaches are taking no prisoners with how they are tendering offers this year. They will still take their time and make sure they have a legit shot before offering, so if a 2021 guys gets offered — you have to know he’s a guy that has reciprocated interest.
Watch for that.
I also talked with several 2021 and 2022 guys over the past few days and will be rolling those articles out over the next 24 to 72 hours.
To wrap this up, I need to say that it’s just silly to over-think and worry about the 2021 effort in recruiting. Every school has been effected by COVID-19, not just Washington.
Some kids don’t even know if they will have a fall football season at this point, so please, don’t worry about it.
Washington will finish strong in 2021 and I am working to find out where things are going in terms of the Huskies’ 2020 season as we speak.
Sometimes, you just need a little faith….
