Local 4-Star Corner talks about New Staff, New Offer from Washington

Spanaway Lake 2023 corner, Jasiah Wagoner had already been offered by the former staff at Washington, but the new staff wanted to extend a brand new offer yesterday, and that they did.

Wagoner, who’s 5-11, 170, did have a “close relationship” with the last staff, but now he’s ready to get to know the new guys a little better, “I just talked to Coach Brown about 20 minutes ago”, Wagoner said, “He’s a real cool guy — I’ve talked to him a couple of times now.”

Kalen DeBoer extended the offer yesterday, however, but Brown will be playing point going forward.

Wagoner has been to Washington for a couple of home games (debacles); the Apple Cup and the Montana game, but he understands that Washington had a twilight zone kind of year — and because of that he will be watching what happens now with the new staff in place.

“I’m pretty sure I’m going to Junior Day”, he added.

Wagoner also has plans to visit Oregon in March, and Penn State later in the spring.

On the field, Wagoner has excellent ball skills at corner and receiver. He’s a very reactionary corner who sees the field and is fluid enough to get into the backfield and serviceable enough to stop the run.

His instincts are exceptional, and he is crazy athletic.

Last season Wagoner recorded three picks and eight touchdowns (offense). He also runs track and considered going out for wrestling this year, but may not be able to because he is very involved in the 7 on 7 circuit where he plays for Heir Sports. His mentor is Reggie Jones, of course.

Aside from the 10 offers Wagoner already holds, schools such as Wisconsin, Utah, and UCLA are also coming on strong.

Is there a lure to stay home and play locally in college? “Some say that it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and college is the best place to start”.

But don’t take that to mean he is resolute on leaving the state, “I’m about half and half on that”, he said.

Getting to know the new staff and build that relationship will be crucial to the Huskies’ efforts with Wagoner, but he’s in no rush to make an early decision and will definitely be watching what the Huskies do in 2022.
