The buzz around the state of Washington continued to grow on Saturday night when Michael Penix Jr. posted a video announcing to the Husky Faithful and the college football world that he would return for his final season on Montlake.
Later video would surface of his teammates and coaches reacting to the news including Head Coach Kalen DeBoer with both fists raised to the skies.
Kaila Olin, UW Leah, Jake Grant, and Trevor Mueller discuss the reaction to the announcement and talk about expectations for the program in 2023.
Of course some expectations will wait on other decisions around the program including the decision of receiver Rome Odunze. Odunze is fresh off of earning a spot of the conference first team list. In an interview with Dave Mahler Odunze didn’t tip his hand either way on his decision for next year.
Washington also learned where they would conclude their 2022 campaign. All of Husky nation was rooting for USC to beat Utah for the Dawgs to get the invite to play in the Rose Bowl. Instead, the country watched the USC program dismantled as their Heisman quarterback limped around the field in Vegas. With the loss the Huskies will be headed to San Antonio and a date with former Husky coaches Steve Sarkisian and Pete Kwiatkowski.
Listen to all that and more.
