The Washington Huskies finally got their first road win of the season in a 28-21 victory over the California Golden Bears.
For the first time this season the Huskies failed to score 30 points, but the offense still moved the ball down the field effiencetly.
Michael Penix took what the defense gave him and amassed 374 yards through the air.
The story was the Huskies’ defense.
Washington forced punts on all four of Cal’s first half possessions. However, Washington’s offense wasn’t able to convert their three trips to the red zone into touchdowns, but settled for field goals. Peyton Henry was 2-3 in the first half and the Huskies went into the locker room up 6-0, dispite the dominant half.
Cal scored a touchdown on its first possession of the second half and found itself trailing, 7-6.

The teams traded touchdowns until the defense was able to give the offense the ball back and go up 28-14 on a 36-yard toss to Richard Newton from Penix.
The Bears scored one more time to make the score 28-21, but for the first time this season the defense stopped Cal’s offense for two popssessions with a relentless passrush. Cal had to punt then turned the ball over on downs in a last ditch effort to score.
