LISTEN: 4th and Inches Podcast Recaps Washington Victory Over Stanford

The script was flipped Saturday afternoon in Palo Alto when the Washington Huskies beat Stanford 42-33. As opposed to last week when the Dawgs relied on their defense to bail them out against ASU, holding the Sun Devils to just seven points, the offense carried the day this week.

It was not all smooth sailing for the offense with a sick Michael Penix and some rare drops and a fumble from the top receivers.  In  the end, scoring 42 points is good enough to beat a team like Stanford while giving up some on defense.

Washington was Red Zone turnovers from this game being a blowout.

Washington was off-rhythm from the start. The Huskies allowed the Cardinal to stay in the game early with some questionable penalties and one poor decision on a personal foul penalty that kept Stanford’s drive alive. Instead of being up 21-0 with a chance to pour it on, the Huskies gifted Stanford seven to tie the game early in the second half.

In the end Washington is 8-0 with a November slate that will make or break the season.

UW Leah and Trevor Mueller discuss the game and what can be fixed going into USC.
