LISTEN: 4th and Inches Podcast Previews Washington/Texas in Alamo Bowl

The Washington Huskies are in San Antonio preparing to take the field against one of the most storied programs in America. Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns stand in their way of a 11-2 season.

But the 11-win season isn’t the only goal this Husky team strives for.

Playing a blue blood like Texas will give the Huskies a unique opportunity on Thursday. Texas has the biggest following of any team in America, the most money, and the biggest brand. Washington is looking to capitalize on this in preparation to one of the most anticipated seasons in the history of the program.

Outside of a decision of Rome Odunze, every draft eligible underclassmen is coming back for the 2023 season. In the northwest expectations are higher than ever, but nationally is a different story.

Teams like USC, Utah, the return of Bo Nix, and the rumored commitment of DJ Uiagalelei to Oregon State has moved the storyline in Seattle out of the national spotlight.

A win against Texas changes that. A win against Texas sets the gears in motion of momentum that will continue through spring ball, into fall camp, and into the 2023 season.

Kaila Olin, UW Leah, and Trevor Mueller discuss how the Huskies can get it done against the Longhorns.
