LISTEN: 4th and Inches Podcast Digs Into Washington’s Win in Alamo Bowl

The Washington Huskies won their 11th, game of the season when they took down #20 Texas 27-20 at the Alamo Bowl. The Dawgs played a “neutral site game” about an hour drive away from The University of Texas’ campus. As expected over 90% of the attendees were in Longhorns’ team color: Texas Burnt Orange.

But it was UW senior running back Wayne Taulapapa who burned Texas his 42-yard touchdown in the first quarter.  It was the game’s first TD, giving Washington a 10-3 lead.  The Virginia-transfer finished the day with 108 yards on the ground.

All night long Taulapapa kept the sticks moving and Quinn Ewers on the sidelines.

Washington’s  pass game was limited in their explosive plays, but Michael Penix took what the defense gave and still managed to throw for close to 300 yards and break the Washington single season passing yards record held by Cody Pickett since 2002.

The Huskies boast the highest winning percentage of any Pac-12 team after bowl season concluded finishing with an 11-2 record and a likely top-10 finish in the final poll.

Kaila Olin, UW Leah, and Trevor Mueller break down the game and what this win means for the program going forward.
