LISTEN: 4th and Inches Examines Washington’s Newfound Offensive Prowess

The Washington Huskies under new head coach Kalen DeBoer started off with an offensive showcase that hasn’t been seen on Montlake since 2016.

The 45-20 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes showcased an offense that was able to move the ball and gain yards in large chunks. Pro Football Focus rated Michael Penix as the #1 rated passer while under pressure. While that stat is important, the offensive line did not let many free rushers through and kept the pocket clean.

Other impressive positions outside of the quarterback and the offensive line, was the stellar play of the receivers. Headlined by Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, Taj Davis, and Ja’Lynn Polk consistently put up highlights throughout the evening.

While the Huskies’ offense against Kent State presented positive signs, the defense at times gave pause to the excitement.

Listen in as Kaila Olin, Jake Grant, and Trevor Mueller examine both sides of the ball and dissect the flow of Washington’s convincing 45-20 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes
