A source close to the situation told Realdawg.com this morning that back-up quarterback, Jake Haener will be transferring out of Washington at some point, moments ago UW confirmed this,
We want to make it clear; Haener’s name is not in the transfer portal yet — but what we’ve learned is that Chris Petersen had let Haener know that if he decided to transfer, he would honor that and grant him a waiver as well. The two sat down this week to discuss this situation and Petersen had told Haener he could play against Eastern.
The fact is, however, that his name is not on the Husky roster as of this morning.
Haener has been battling with Jacob Eason ever since Eason transferred to Washington from Georgia, and although he made appearances last season as backup to Jake Browning, Haener saw the handwriting on the wall when — earlier this week — Petersen named Eason the starter.
At this point it’s a clear assumption that Jacob Sirmon will be the main back up.
