Washington Football let Husky Nation know that they made it to the biggest stage in college football and one game away from playing for a national title. Indeed, the Washington Huskies will play Texas in the the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 1, 2024. The game is a rematch of the 2023 Alamo Bowl that Washington won 27-20.
Washington fans were notably upset that the team will have to travel 2/3 of the way across the country to play a game essentially as a visitor where if the game were held in the Rose Bowl it would be an equal distance from Washington and Texas.
Here are some of the reactions of Husky fans on Social Media:

I had a peaceful, uneasy feeling last night that the playoff committee would find some way to screw things up.
Washington has been in control of its own destiny–until now. They have gone 13-0 (20-straight) have the best resume in the country. Toughest schedule down the stretch and won on the road twice against ranked teams
Now the College Football Playoffs Committee holds the cards.

Former Washington defensive back’s mom Buffy Miller saw the stinging irony announcement
So cheaters get the granddaddy of them all and the good guys get to spend a fortune trying to get to a bowl game. SMH.
— Buffy Miller (@buffym04) December 3, 2023
Coach Velasco happened to agree with Miller
Washington being made to go to New Orleans instead of Michigan (who cheated) is wrong. The rose bowl means so much to our fanbase and is geographically better for us. I’m pissed off. I hope that our team is as well. Take it out on Sark and the Longhorns.

John Jerry was philosophical about the result
I don't think the players care anymore about Pasadena the longer the CFP has gone on. That Tradition was killed and they basically didn't grow up with it. I say relish the opportunity in SEC country to make a statement about UW and West Coast Football. Go Dawgs!! pic.twitter.com/FhwfuBTcJR

Noah Garguile isn’t finding many options on Washington Athletics’ airline partner and Washington QB Penix’s NIL Partner Alaska Airlines, hoping that the carrier creates more routes to New Orleans.
.@AlaskaAir doesn't miss…they will open more flights to NOLA #NolaReign ☔️ pic.twitter.com/7Z11ApKSBk

Washington fans can ring in the new year in The Big Easy and Deputy AD & Chief of Staff for Washington Athletics, Andy Fee has already pieced together some packages for Husky fans.
Husky fans! We need you to cheer our Dawgs on in NOLA! @UW_Football @UWAthletics Link to fan packages for hotel and air: https://t.co/8HBFwrK09b pic.twitter.com/5UfayJ9VxB

KJR’s “Softy” also tired to keep things in perspective.
Will certainly be problematic for fans to get to New Orleans. But, would rather have Texas than Alabama. And being in a dome isn’t horrible either.
— Dave “Softy” Mahler (@Softykjr) December 3, 2023
Jackson Felts shared a similar sentiment, noting that Washington was comfortable in hostile territory in the Alamo Bowl that was in close proximately to their opponent’s campus.
The Huskies beat Texas last year exactly 3 1/2 feet from their campus.
Dome for Michael Penix. Avoiding Alabama. Love this for Washington.
— Jackson Felts (@JacksonOnRadio) December 3, 2023
Luke, is all the poster goes by, but he had no words, just a little memory of Jalen McMillan’s shoestring grab from the Alamo Bowl that gave UW a 27-10 lead over the Longhorns.
Former Washington running back and Chris Petersen assistant Deontae Cooper wasn’t pleased with, presumably, the entire roll out. Washington could have easily been voted as the number 1 overall but the
The committee failed the country today.

Current Husky linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio, who hails from “Sin City” hasn’t been to “The Big Easy” but is embracing a visit to NOLA.
Ever been to New Orleans Husky Nation!? Me neither… let’s make it a first for all of us and make the superdome purple!!!
— EDEFUAN 🇳🇬 (@Ulofoshio30) December 3, 2023
Current Washington defensive lineman Faatui Tuitele is cool with it all.
Run it back then 😤

The UW Daily’s Ethan Kilbreath saw some familiar numbers.
Texas opens as a 4.5 point favorite over @UW_Football on Draftkings.
— Ethan Kilbreath (@EthanArles) December 3, 2023
Former Husky defensive lineman Jordan Reffett sees an opportunity–if he has the permission of his better half.
+700 for Washington to win the national championship. Unreal. I'm on hold with the wife asking how much I can throw at this number. Yes, I have to ask my wife.

It didn’t Seattle apparel company, Simply Seattle to get some merch ready for Husky Nation.

They also have some strong opinions on the CFP Semifinal locations, noting that the “most advantageous” was simple math that was completely missed.
Today we learned the CFP committee can’t do basic math.
And also doesn’t know basic US geography as well. https://t.co/s8uCxBNlvM
