Instant Reaction: Washington Football Fans Vent Via Social Media

Washington Football let Husky Nation know that they made it to the biggest stage in college football and one game away from playing for a national title.  Indeed, the Washington Huskies will play Texas in the the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 1, 2024.  The game is a rematch of the 2023 Alamo Bowl that Washington won 27-20.

Washington fans were notably upset that the team will have to travel 2/3 of the way across the country to play a game essentially as a visitor where if the game were held in the Rose Bowl it would be an equal distance from Washington and Texas.

Here are some of the reactions of Husky fans on Social Media:

Former Washington defensive back’s mom Buffy Miller saw the stinging irony announcement

Coach Velasco happened to agree with Miller

John Jerry was philosophical about the result

Noah Garguile isn’t finding many options on Washington Athletics’ airline partner and Washington QB Penix’s NIL Partner Alaska Airlines, hoping that the carrier creates more routes to New Orleans.

Washington fans can ring in the new year in The Big Easy and Deputy AD & Chief of Staff for Washington Athletics, Andy Fee has already pieced together some packages for Husky fans.

KJR’s “Softy” also tired to keep things in perspective.

Jackson Felts shared a similar sentiment, noting that Washington was comfortable in hostile territory in the Alamo Bowl that was in close proximately to their opponent’s campus.

Luke, is all the poster goes by, but he had no words, just a little memory of Jalen McMillan’s shoestring grab from the Alamo Bowl that gave UW a 27-10 lead over the Longhorns.

Former Washington running back and Chris Petersen assistant Deontae Cooper wasn’t pleased with, presumably, the entire roll out.  Washington could have easily been voted as the number 1 overall but the

Current Husky linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio, who hails from “Sin City” hasn’t been to “The Big Easy” but is embracing a visit to NOLA.

Current Washington defensive lineman Faatui Tuitele is cool with it all.

The UW Daily’s Ethan Kilbreath saw some familiar numbers.

Former Husky defensive lineman Jordan Reffett sees an opportunity–if he has the permission of his better half.

It didn’t Seattle apparel company, Simply Seattle to get some merch ready for Husky Nation.

They also have some strong opinions on the CFP Semifinal locations, noting that the “most advantageous” was simple math that was completely missed.

A different graphic was offered by Hooligan7 with his computer generated graphic for the game.

We will add more notable reactions but we were unable to include a few as they contained a bit of language.
