In the Touchdown Terrace at Husky Stadium, new Washington coaches Jedd Fisch, Brennan Carroll, and Steve Belichick hosted a lunch for the UW Media.
With around 30 people in the room, each of the coaches answered questions for about 20 minutes total.
The Media was served boxed lunches from Jersey Mikes. Head Coach Fisch started off the meeting saying, “Next time it will be a hot meal.”
Instant Reactions
Coach Fisch is a pure professional and has the utmost confidence in his ability to get the job done at UW.
Coach Carroll- Knows who he is and is confident in his abilities. As a college coach, he will thrive.
Coach Belichick- One thing for certain, there will be gaggle of reporters flocking to Belichick whenever he is made available. He is honest, to a humorous fault (meant as a complement). Knows football and loves COACHING, but everything else about college football is new.
UW has never had 30,000 people at their Spring Game- Coach Fisch is shooting for 40k.
Coach Fisch says UW will have 79 total scholarship players & 21 walk ons. This includes players coming this summer and injured.
Spring Practice will begin Tuesday or Wednesday but will be locked in by end of the week. Practices will start at 3:30pm. “We don’t have morning kickoffs so we won’t have morning practices,” Fisch noted.
Coach Fisch said that when former UW Director of Athletics, Troy Dannen sold him on coming to UW, it was all about UW. He said he really didn’t get much of a chance to know Troy, so the news was not that startling to him. He is excited to work with new Athletic Director Pat Chun and UW Head Basketball Coach Danny Sprinkle. Wants to see UW finish top 10 in Football and Basketball, like Arizona did last year.
Mike Martin and I will be covering UW Pro Day Thursday, March 28th.
