With the departure of running back Will Nixon, the Washington Huskies running back room has gone from 7 down to six scholarship players.
Although one of the more senior backs, Nixon saw the UW bring in a top transfer RB each of the past 3 season.
In 2022 it was Wayne Taulapapa, in 2023 it was Dillon Johnson, and this past winter Jonah Coleman moved to Montlake with the new staff from Arizona.
While it was likely that there would be at least one departure, Nixon being passed over by two staffs was certainly a factor in his departure. However, when called upon he provided some pop, averaging over 6 yards a carry last season.
After the season ended Tybo Rogers entered then withdrew from the portal, pointing to other departures.
Washington’s RB depth chart is as follows:
-Junior, Jonah Coleman (incoming)
-Senior, Cam Davis
-Freshman, Tybo Rogers
-Senior, Daniyel Ngata
-Junior, Sam Adams II
-Freshman, Adam Mohammed (incoming transfer)
It appears that the position group is healthy, so there will probably be a spirited battle between Coleman, Davis, and Rogers.
