With the addition of 4-star offensive tackle Elishah Jackett the Huskies have moved up to 23rd in the nation, just ahead of the Oregon Ducks. According to RealDawg.com’s Roman Tomashoff Jackett was the offensive tackle that UW offensive line coach Scott Huff rated highest.
At number 69 just seven days ago, the Huskies were just ahead of Cal and Washington State nationally. Based upon rumors and inuendos, there will be more commitments sent out today. Of those on campus this weekend were 4-star defensive backs Jordan Sanford and Curley Reed, 3-star offensive linemen Landen Hatchett and Luke Baklenko. Defensively there are a couple of uncommitted 3-star players remaining with defensive lineman Elineus Davis and linebacker Victory Johnson. 3-star athlete Ethan O’Connor
Now with 11 verbal commitments, including 7 in the past days and given the events of the Friday and Saturday where the Washington coaches demonstrated their ability to close on the 5 remaining uncommitted players appears to be strong.
The tide began to turn when 4-star Rashid Williams selected the Huskies over Oregon, Miami, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Stanford, and others.
“It seemed like the momentum shifted back in May when receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard got Williams pledge,” recalled RealDawg.com’s Kyle Waltos. “That got the ball rolling, it seems.”
If the attitudes on social media were a thermometer, the mercury began to rise from that point.
In gaining Jackett’s commitment mid-morning on Sunday, the final day of what many are saying is the biggest recruiting weekend in memory, Washington is positioned to close on others who are leaning Washington’s way.
Only time will tell how high Washington’s recruiting ranking can go.
