When Kalen DeBoer took over at Washington he promised high-flying offense and he did, taking the Huskies to an 11-2 record-the highest win total since Chris Petersen’s 12-2 record in 2016. This season UW will be flying high again, both on and off the field. Off the field, the Washington Football program, as a whole, will likely log 1,000,000 air miles this season.
According to an estimation by Bookies.com each Washington Husky Football player will travel 9,907 air miles during the 5 regular season games. Traveling teams can only have 70 players on in-conference road trips meaning that 693,490 total player miles.
However, when coaches, administrative support staff, equipment managers, and other entities are added to the equation the air miles jump to over a million.
Should the Huskies make it to the Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas each player would travel 11,679 on a round trip. In addition to the conference championship game, there would be at a minimum a bowl game with the closest being 866 to Las Vegas, the next closest would be 960 to Los Angles.
If the Huskies are involved in a lower-tier bowl game and don’t appear in the conference championship game they would travel in Dallas, El Paso, or San Diego the entire team can travel, easily pushing the team over the million-mile mark.
Finally, Heisman-contending quarterback, Michael Penix, already the most traveled player on the team, could end up with an extra 5,000 air mile bonus. The native of Tampa, Florida is already 2,519 miles, as a crow flies, away from home. He started out the season at the Pac-12 media day in Las Vegas, 866 air miles away. Should Penix become a Heisman finalist he could wind up at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City. That flight with tack on 2,412 miles each way.
