The Huskies made their case going into the Pac-12 North title game next weekend in Pullman, by defeating Oregon State 42-23 in Seattle.
Jake Browning threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while Myles Gaskin rushed for 135 yards and one touchdown to complete their careers at Husky Stadium.
Salvon Ahmed also added 73 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The Huskies jumped out early; scoring on every possession in the first quarter when Ahmed got into the endzone twice, followed by touchdown passes to Aaron Fuller and another to Cade Otton. The Beavers could only get a field goal in the quarter from 47 yards out by Jordan Choukair.
The second quarter saw the Beavers wake up a little bit, however, when quarterback Jake Luton capped off a 75-yard drive with a little three-yard out to Isaiah Hodgins, Choukair (again) hit a 35-yard field goal to help the Beavers to another three points, but it was all uphill for the Beavers.
The Huskies smacked back when Myles Gaskin took a 10 yard pass to the house to give the Huskies a 35-13 lead with just :44 left in the half.
Jordan Choukair got one more shot at the uprights as time was running out and the Beavers added three more, making the score 35-16 going into the locker room.
The third quarter saw just one touchdown scored — and that was Myles Gaskin ran in (what appeared to be) an easy touchdown for the Huskies, making the score 42-16 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter Oregon State would get into the endzone one last time, but the Huskies held on to the lead, winning the game with a 42-23 final score.
Washington moves to 6-2 and 8-3 for the season.
Next up is the Apple Cup in Pullman on Friday that will decide who goes to the Pac-12 Championship game. Both Washington and Washington State have had the North Division up for grabs in the past two seasons, and Washington has won each time. Last year, however, the Huskies were depending on Stanford to lose their game to Cal and because the Tree had beaten UW — and Stanford won and went to the championship game.
