Head coach Chris Petersen announced today that star true freshman tight end Hunter Bryantwill be out awhile after suffering a leg injury in Saturday’s win against UCLA. Petersen wouldn’t rule out Bryant for the season just yet but it’s sounding like it’s leaning that direction.
“I think Hunter (Bryant) will be out a significant period of time,” Petersen said Monday about Bryant’s injury.”We still haven’t got the final official ruling but again until I hear from the doctors this is what it is – they are still looking at a couple few things. He will be out awhile, that I can say.”
Hunter Bryant is second on the team in recptions (22) and receiving yards (331). Bryant’s 15.0 yards per catch ranks third on the team.
With Bryant out, it will be up to Drew Sample and Will Dissly to take on the load. Dissly is third on the team with 158 yards receiving. Sample, who has missed a few games due to injury has four catches for 68 yards on the season.
Washington has already lost starting wide receiver Chico McClatcherand starting left tackle Trey Adams for the season.
