Huskies Score Huge Points with Cali 4-Star Wide Receiver

Washington had several high-profile recruits on campus over the weekend, and Cali 4-star receiver, LV Bunkey-Shelton made his presence known during the Rising Stars camp.

Bunkley-Shelton, who stands 6-0 and weighs around 177 had a terrific camp; earning MVP honors and proving (once again) how worthy he was of that Husky offer he received back in April.

“I loved it a lot”, he said of the overall experience of U-Dub and Seattle, “Everything is so close together…there’s the lightrail and you can go anywhere you want…it’s great for people who don’t have a car..”

Bunkley-Shelton is an avid cyclist so the thought of riding his bike around was appealing as well.

Bunkley-Shelton was accompanied on the trip by his uncle, and both took some time to walk the tracks at the UW athletic complex, and also enjoyed getting to see the campus, “Everything was beautiful”, he said, “The waterfall right there in the middle of the campus..I also liked the lake — everything is right next to eachother.”

Bunkley-Shelton and his uncle had a chance to sit down with Chris Petersen and his uncle was very impressed with what the coach had to say, “He loves how Coach Pete was talking”, he said, “Just to have that face-to-face time.”

Bunkley-Shelton also enjoyed the time he was able to spend with Junior Adams, and said that this puts Washington “High on my list”.

The only thing they missed was the barbecue because of their flight schedule, but Bunkley-Shelton said they are planning to set up an official trip for the fall.

Among those that he was able to spend some with, Bunkley-Shelton said he and Ethan Garbers connected and he also saw current (newcomer) Taj Davis, “That’s my guy right there”, he said.

Bunkley-Shelton has a trip set up with Texas on July 26th, and this week he’s heading to Atlanta for the Rivals 5-star Challenge.

The scouting report on Bunkley-Shelton is that he’s a tough player; his routes are crisp, and he does play at a high school that produces good receivers. He runs with long strides, and just shows a lot of moxie on the field.

Last season for Serra, Bunkley-Shelton recorded 1000 yards receiving on 80 catches, and he is a guy who has an exceptionally high football IQ. He’s played both sides of the ball, and he can read defensive backs and what kinds of coverages they’re in just by their stances.
