Huskies, Beavers Post-Game Notes

The captains for today’s game were: Myles Bryant, Jake Browning, Nick Harris and Jojo McIntosh. The Huskies are now 2-9 on opening coin tosses.

The Huskies recognized 23 players participating in their last game at Husky Stadium prior to kickoff: Tevis Bartlett, Ian Biddle, Shane Bowman, Jake Browning, Ben Burr-Kirven, Greg Gaines, John Gardner, Myles Gaskin, Matt James, Jaylen Johnson, Austin Joyner, Kaleb McGary, Jojo McIntosh, Jordan Miller, Michael Neal, Matt Preston, Josh Rasmussen, Max Richmond, Drew Sample, Jesse Sosebee, Sean Vergara, Jake Wambaugh and DeShon Williams.

Today is the 51st game for the Washington senior class. The group improved to 37-14 (.725). Greg Gaines is the only player to play in all 51 of those games. Keishawn Bierria holds the UW record for most games played with 54 games. 

The Huskies are 38-0 when scoring 31 or more points in the Chris Petersen era. • The Huskies’ 14-game home win streak is tied for the second longest in the nation. Alabama has the longest home win streak with 25 games. 

The Huskies tied a school record with 28 first quarter points. It is the fourth time they have done it in their history, the first time since at Washington State in 2016.

Washington has won eight-straight games against Oregon State, outscoring them by a 303-111 margin. They have scored 40 or more points in each of the last four matchups, marking the first time the Huskies have scored 40 or more in four-straight games against ANY Pac-12 opponents.

Jake Browning became the Pac-12 Conference’s all-time winningest starting quarterback with 37 wins, breaking a tie at the top with Stanford’s Kevin Hogan and Oregon’s Marcus Mariota. He is now 37-13 (.740) in his career. 

Jake Browning threw a season-high equaling three touchdowns by the end of the first half and now has 94 in his career. His moved up to fourth all-time in Pac-12 history for most scores responsible for and ranks sixth all-time in the Conference for TD passes, behind fifth-place Jared Goff (96) of Cal. Rk. Browning tied his previous career high with a first-quarter 25-yard rush. He previously rushed for 25 yards against Utah as a freshman in 2015.

Myles Gaskin went over 100 yards rushing for his school record 24th time and the fourth time this season. With his 135 yards, he now has 4,961 for his career, 39 shy of becoming the fifth Pac-12 player reaching, 5,000.

Myles Gaskin’s 64-yard, non-scoring run in the first quarter was his longest rush of the season. It is the second longest non-scoring rush of his career (68 yards vs. Oregon in 2016) and the 14th longest non-scoring rush in UW history.

Myles Gaskin caught his first touchdown of the season – the fifth of his career – and added a rushing touchdown in the third quarter. The rushing score was the 52nd of his career, moving him into a fourth-place tie all-time in Pac-12 history with USC’s LenDale White. Overall, Gaskin has scored 57 times in his career. 

Ben Burr-Kirven led the team with 11 tackles and has 10-plus in six-straight games, nine games overall. His 145 tackles are the most by a Husky since Mason Foster had 163 in 2010. His tackle total is also 80 more than any other Husky (Tevis Bartlett, 62).

Salvon Ahmed recorded multi rushing touchdowns in a game for the second time this season

True freshman to play today and number of games played this season: Dominique Hampton (2), Jackson Sirmon (2), MJ Tafisi (2), Sam Taimani (2), Edefuan Ulofoshio (1). 

All-American Trey Adams entered the game in the second quarter for his first action of 2018. 

Walk-on freshman Edefuan Ulofoshio was credited with a fumble caused in the first quarter during kickoff coverage. It was the first play of his college career. He caused another fumble on the opening kick of the second half.
