Emeka Megwa, a running back from Fort Worth, Texas, has arrived in Seattle and will begin classes as the University of Washington on Wednesday, Sept. 29, the first day of the fall academic quarter.
Megwa, who is a member of the high school class of 2022, has graduated from Nolan Catholic High School and is enrolling in college a full school year early. He joins the football team as a freshman, effective immediately.
Megwa spent the last three football seasons at Nolan Catholic, but had moved to Timber Creek High in Jan., 2021. At Nolan Catholic, he rushed for 730 yards and 12 touchdowns on 133 carries in leading the Vikings to an 8-1 record in the abbreviated 2020 football season. He was a first-team all-state and all-district selection as a junior.
As a sophomore in 2019, he helped Nolan to an 11-1 record and the quarterfinals of the state’s private school Division I playoffs, earning first-team all-state and district MVP. As a sophomore, he rushed for 1,786 yards and 27 scores. As a freshman in 2018, he 86 carries for 576 yards as the Vikings finished 9-2.
