Heat Check: What 2024 Recruits are Saying about Washington

Coming off of a top 10 finish the  Washington Huskies opened a lot of eyes of prospects across the country.  That has, in turn, opened a lot of doors once closed the recruiting trail.  This past week the coaches were on the recruiting trail handing out offers and Friday and Saturday night they hosted around 30 high school players.

Here are some of the players thoughts about Washington as a program and the coaches as a whole.

“You can tell that they know each other really good just the way that they are around each other,” one prospect said.

When I asked a 4-star prospect about where the Huskies are with him, he didn’t hesitate.

“Definitely top 5,” he said.  “They’ve been on me for a while, but the season showed me that they’re for real.”

And every prospect has stated that the Washington coaches have done a great job of keeping in regular contact with them.

Courtney Morgan gets a huge assist in all of this as every player says that the director of player personnel has opened the doors for the coaches.  He may get an even bigger assist with a former USC commit opening up his recruiting and really opening the players eyes:

”He’s like an uncle to me.  I’ve known him since I was born,” the player said.

He also raved about the entire experience and moved the Huskies solidly into his top 10 saying, “I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Similarly, another 4-star DB was blown away by the attention to detail, and how well-run the visit was.

“It’s the little things that really don’t matter that stuck out,” he said.  “They showed me how much they wanted me with those little things.”

Big picture things were part of the presentation and the players took notice.

“I want to go into business and I know that Washington has one of the best business schools around,” a lineman prospect said.

A player from the Show Me state is enthusiastic about heading west for a visit in the near future, but he wasn’t in Seattle this past weekend.

“I don’t know exactly when I’ll be up, but UDub is a place that I will visit,” he said.

Player after offensive player stated that the eye-popping numbers that the Washington offense put up this past season is a big factor in their recruitment.

“I want to check it out,” said one running back.  “I watched many of their games and the Alamo Bowl and it wasn’t their best day and still found a way to win.”

In all, RealDawg.com had interviewed close to 15 of the visitors with more scheduled in the coming days.

Two players who weren’t even considering the Huskies stated that Washington, based on the weekend visits was in their top 10.

One of whom is the son of a two-time national champion at USC.
