Gaskin says “It wasn’t just one thing…”

The news came quickly and calmly. Husky tailback Myles Gaskin simply tweeted, “I’m comin’ back”. Later, he spoke to Realdawg.com about that decision, and how it came down.

“It was a couple days ago — I sat down with my friends and we talked about the pros and cons”, Gaskin explained, “It wasn’t just one thing — it was a lot of things. I even talked to my high school coach.”

Gaskin is just yards away from breaking the all-time rushing record set by Napolean Kaufman back in the 90s, but he says that doesn’t mean much to him, he’s more about the team.

“I don’t get caught up in all of that”, he laughed.

One thing he did do was get a player insurance  policy — something many college seniors will get if they decide to forego the pros and stay a senior season.

We had talked about Gaskin staying for several weeks, and he even said that for some in his camp — this wasn’t a big secret.

“Coach KB kind of knew the whole time”, Gaskin said, “But he told me to just follow my heart and would have supported me no matter what I did.”

And one person who is very happy he’s staying is Gaskin’s mother, “She’s excited”, he laughed, “My mom obviously is happy that she gets to see her baby play another  year.”

Gaskin said his biggest goal during the off-season is just to concentrate on getting bigger, and also talked about his friendship with fellow tailback, Salvon Ahmed.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve taken him under my wing — we’re just really good friends. We play differently, but we’re just real good friends.”
