Chris Petersen appeared to be in a thoughtful mood as he addressed the media this morning. He touched on a few points, but most of his focus was on preparing for Cal’s defense.
“People on the outside don’t realize how good Cal is on defense”, Petersen said, “They don’t.”
And he said that Cal brings a “new dynamic” to Husky Stadium this weekend that (obviously) Eastern Washington didn’t.
** He was pleased with the performance of Jacob Eason against EWU, and said that he took whatever the defense gave him, and was proud of his decision-making.
** Petersen was also pleased with what Richard Newton brought to the running game, “He was hurt for a lot of his redshirt (year)….we felt really good about him….he seemed to be a good, hard runner…he answered the bell”
** Petersen also was glad he was able to rotate a lot of young guys into the game on Saturday, and specifically pointed out that Laiatu Latu was already a guy they planned on playing “more than the four (games)”.
** On center Nick Harris, Petersen gave the ambiguous answer of “week to week”, meaning…he’s not going to tell anyone anything.
OF NOTE: UW has not released the two-deeps yet for the game against Cal, and usually those aren’t made available until the opponent is ready to release theirs as well.
