In the second installment of the Class of 2019 Friday Focus, we get to know 4-star Husky signee, Trent McDuffie of St. John Bosco High School in California.
So here’s the Q & A from the recent discussion we had with McDuffie about his present, future, and favorites.
Q: When did you really know in your heart that you wanted to go to Washington?
A: “It was after my official visit. I just remember thinking, “I can really see myself at this place”. I sat down with my parents and we locked it in.”
Q: How do your parents feel about you going up to Washington?
A: “My parents are stoked, my mom really loves Seattle.”
Q: What kind of goals do you have for yourself as a player during your career at Washington?
A: “Well I want to get a starting job. I want to get that DB Nation Award, win a Pac-12 championship, and a national title.”
Q: How about the fact that Washington plays so many DB’s on any given defensive drive?
A: “That kind of rotation is a dream come true for a DB, it’s a real exciting factor.”
Q: Are you going to be coming back up for spring football at all?
A: “I want to get back up for one (trip) in March and then maybe a couple more times for spring football.”
Q: Where are you weight-wise right now, and have you talked at all to Coach Lake or Harris about what your ideal play-weight would be once you get on the field in fall camp?
A: “I’m at 185 right now and I want to keep around that weight but build muscle, so I’ll be working with the strength coach on all of that.”
Q: Are you doing any spring sports?
A: “I’m running track. I do the 100 and 200 relay…my best 100 time was a 10.8.”
Q: Have you kept in touch with and maintained relationships with guys like Kamren, Asa, and Cameron? (the other DB’s in the class)
A: “As a group we have a great relationship. We’re all hard-hitting and hard-working.”
Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: “Fried chicken.”
Q: Favorite music?
A: “R & B”
Q: Favorite TV show?
A: “Stranger Things”
